Indore: Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) is likely to get new vice chancellor on Saturday.
The university has been waiting for vice chancellor since June 24, the day state government clamped Section 52 of MP University Act, which led to ouster of vice chancellor Dr Narendra Dhakad.
The government was supposed to send panel of at least three candidates to Raj Bhawan along with file of Section 52 so that notification of emergency at DAVV and appointment of new VC should be taken out simultaneously.
But the government delayed the panel and sent it on June 25. By the time, the panel reached Raj Bhawan, Chancellor Anandiben Patel had left for Chhattisgarh.
It was learnt that she returned on June 28 after which DAVV looked at Raj Bhawan. The university was expecting appoint of VC by Friday evening but to no avail. Now, the university hopes that letter of appointment would come on Friday.
From UTD campus, Prof Ashutosh Mishra and Prof Ashok Sharma are stated to be front runner for the post. Indore division additional director (higher education) Prof KN Chaturvedi is also stated to be among the favourites.
