Indore: As industrial activities continued uninterrupted despite corona curfew in Malwa-Nimar, the daily industrial power demand was 71 MW more in May compared to the same period last year. During this period, labourers got employment and due to production, business activities continued and the power company also distributed quality power to the industrial units.

There are thousands of industrial units in Indore and Ujjain divisions that fall under West Discom. Most of these industries are located in Indore, Ujjain, Pithampur, Dewas and Ratlam.

During corona curfew period, production continued in April and May. Last year, industrial units were closed due to lockdown, so the daily average demand for electricity by industrial units was 431 MW. This year, daily average power demand in industries stood at 502 MW.

“Instructions have been given to the engineers of all the districts of Malwa-Nimar to provide uninterrupted power to the industrial units. Even during Covid-19 crisis, our supply was smooth,” said West Discom managing director Amit Tomar.
