Indore: CT sleuths raid Chinese electrical goods importers’ premises

Indore: Anti-evasion team of commercial tax department on Wednesday raided establishments of two Chinese electrical goods importers. According to sources, the raid has detected huge tax evasion and the action is likely to be completed on Friday.

Sleuths of anti-evasion bureau wing-A on Wednesday started their action at M/s Balaji Light and Jitendra Electricals located in New Siyaganj.

Official sources informed that the action led by deputy commissioner of commercial tax Dr Dharmapal Sharma is being carried out on the instruction of commissioner of commercial tax Raghvendra Singh.

Sources further informed that raid is being carried out at the offices, residences of the owners of the firms and its godowns as well. The CTD has been receiving complaints about tax evasion by these firms since sometime. During preliminary investigations, evidences of selling goods on paper slips have been detected. Over 20 officials of the wing are carrying out the action. Sources expressed hope of unearthing huge tax evasion by these establishments.

It may be noted that a large number of businessmen are involved in importing Chinese goods like electrical items, fireworks and home décor. Often they show less stock and pay less tax.
