Indore: Two persons posing as bank officials duped a woman of Rs 47,998 after taking her debit card details in Bhanwarkuan area on Saturday. The accused had taken confidential details of account saying that the debit card has expired and they are renewing it.
According to police, Durga Nagar resident Nancy Choudhary lodged a complaint that she was contacted by Tulsi Kumar Mandal of Pune and Dablu Kumar Das of Jharkhand who while posing as bank officials told her that her debit card has expired and needs to be renewed without which she will not be able make transactions in future.
The accused gained her trust after which she had provided her debit card details. She also shared OTP received on her mobile phone through which the accused withdrew Rs 47,998 from her account in two transactions. She received messages of withdrawal.
When she also tried to contact the conmen, their mobile phones were switched off. Later, she reached police station and lodged a complaint. Police have booked the accused under Section 420 of IPC and started search.
