While BJP and Congress have finalised names of their candidates from most seats, Indore has been put on hold. With each passing day, the curiosity among leaders and activists is rising about MP’s commercial capital as both parties have not announced their candidates till date. The curiosity grew from Friday when Jyotiraditya Scindia, who was one of the probable candidates from Indore, was declared as candidate from his traditional seat Guna, which made local leaders ask, “Now, who from Indore?”
Though names of different candidates are doing rounds, the senior party leaders are not showing any sign of approval. This has led to speculation among Congressmen that party will plant an outsider to challenge BJP, which also failed in selecting the replacement of sitting MP Sumitra Mahajan. Candidates who are seeking ticket include those who lost the elections earlier and also some some new faces including sports welfare minister Jitu Patwari.

Others in the race are Pankaj Sanghvi, Satyanarayan Patel, Ashwin Joshi and Shobha Oza.Party insiders believe that Pankaj Sanghvi’s name is final but many of them believe that party will give ticket to Shobh Oza to accommodate her wish for becoming state Congress president. “Party is thinking over name of Shobha Oza too for diluting her candidature as party president,” Congress leaders said .
Party activists dependent on manifesto
Earlier, local Congress leaders had started campaigning against Bhartiya Janata Party and especially against Sumitra Mahajan, targeting her for being inactive in last eight terms. However, after BJP cancelled Mahajan’s ticket, Congress activists are dependent on party’s manifesto to woo voters.
