Indore: The foundation stone laying function of Multipurpose Art Complex at MG Road on Saturday became a place for BJP and Congress face off as mayor Malini Gaud criticised Congress leaders in Indore Municipal Corporation while Congress activists led by Pintu Joshi alleged that BJP is ‘killing’ the play ground to construct parking space for art complex. During the foundation stone laying function, Joshi tried to submit memorandum to Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan in this connection and said play ground should be saved at all costs. Hitting back, Mahajan asked Joshi not to create hurdles in city’s development works as she knows what is to be done.
Addressing the foundation stone laying function, Mahajan said the ground was developed through her MP’s fund and nobody can encroach it.” She said ground will remain intact but if people coming to the Art Complex park their vehicles, then nothing can be done as people usually play in morning time. Talking to mediapersons, Joshi said ground may be encroached on the pretext of parking. “We support city’s development but will protest when a public facility would be damaged or encroached upon,” he said.
