Indore: Classical dancers of Indore win prizes in various categories at International platform

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Classical dancers from Indore proved their mettle at an International platform by winning awards in recently concluded Monsoon Festival-2021. The festival was organized online by Hindustan Music and Arts Society, Kolkata. The name of winners were announced on Thursday.

The classical dancers of the city won prizes in Bharatnatyam, Kathak, Semi-classical and Folk dance categories. Geetha Pillai, trainer of the these champions, said that eight day online dance competitions was organized by a Global Music Examination Board, Hindustan Music and Arts Society.

She further said that the aim of organizing the event was to gather funds to help poor and needy artists, who have been suffering due to closure of dance classes and also of lack of stage performances.

Ashish Pillai, who is also a trainer of these winners, said “Dancers of the city have been working hard. They were having online classes during the lockdown period.” He added that parents of students supported and motivated them throughout the lockdown. “And, now you can see the result,” he said.

The first prizes were won by Shivani Sudarshan in Bharatnatyam, Suhani Bhandari in Kathak, Suhani Bhandari in Semi-classical, Bhoomi Gujarati in Semiclassical. While Ishani Krishnan in Bharatnatyam, Kanitha Shivakumar in Bharatnatyam, Saanvi Padhye in Kathak, Siya Gupta Semi-classical, Anisha Nigam in Semiclassical, Swastika Mukati in Semiclassical and Bhumika Pawar in Folk won second prize, Manashvi Pothana in Bharatnatyam, Gaurangi Joshi in Kathak, Bhumika Pawar in Semiclassical and Mahi Parihar in Semiclassical won third prizes in their respective categories.

The encouragement awards were given to Siyona Kumrawat, Avni Jadon, Kisha Patni, Gaurangi Joshi for Bharatnatyam and Yukti Upadhyay in Semi-classical category.
