To ensure the safety of women in public transport vehicles in the area, Gandhi Nagar police station in-charge Neeta Derwal has called a meeting of such vehicle drivers on Monday night. The drivers have been told to keep an extra vigil on women safety and inform the cops right away in case they smell a rat regarding this.

On the instruction of SSP Ruchi Vardhan Mishra, police station in-charge Derwal held a meeting with city van and city bus drivers to instruct them about women safety and drunk drive cases that had escalated in the city recently. They have been instructed not to allow drunk persons in case women have already occupied the seats.

The details of these drivers were also taken by the police. They were also instructed to call the police in case of harassment or molestation. Passengers in an inebriated condition should not be allowed to commute in public transport, Derwal instructed drivers.

Derwal also instructed city bus drivers to provide safety especially to children and women. For every city van driver, the process of filling up of a form has started at the Gandhi Nagar police station. This is being done so that cops can take immediate action against any eventuality.
