Wednesday turned out to be second hottest day of the season with mercury crossing 43 degrees Celsius-mark again. The night temperature too was highest with 28.3 degrees Celsius.Regional meteorological department has forecast occurrence of heat waves in city in next few days.

Temperature continued to hover over 41 degrees Celsius for last three days and it touched 43.2 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, which was four degrees above normal. The hot weather prevented people to move out. Hot winds gripped the city, which resulted in less traffic on roads in the afternoon.

Regional meteorological department officials said the temperature will rise further in coming days as sky will remain clear. “There is no chance of sharp decrease in temperature in next couple of days. Chances of pre-monsoon activities are also bleak for a week at least,” an official said adding, “Monsoon will reach Indore after June 23 as it has not even touched Kerala yet.”

The night temperature too hovered two degrees Celsius above the normal temperature making the night unbearable for residents.
