Indore: Owing to stormy air and light rain, the life of more than 100 in-flight passengers of IndiGo’s Chennai-Indore flight remained on stake for 30 minutes. As the aircraft remained in air for extra time, passengers panicked while some complained of nausea. The flight was caught in bad weather on Tuesday evening. The flight departs at 5.10 pm from Chennai and arrives at Devi Ahilyabai Holkar airport at 7.10 pm. But the flight landed an hour late at the city airport, which was 8.11 pm, on Tuesday.
The flight departed from Chennai at 5.50 pm against scheduled time of 5.10 pm due to city’s bad weather. As the aircraft approached city and was barely 50 kilometres away, it started vibrating in the sky. This caused panic among passengers. One of the passengers Gouri Upadhyay, who is LIC Housing Finance manager in Chennai, said onboard passengers were scared as the aircraft quivered.
Some old passengers seating in rear seats started vomiting. Owing to bad weather on the ground, the pilot of the aircraft was instructed to continue flying in the sky till next instruction. It was only after 30 minutes of extra flying in the air that the flight was allowed to land. Finally, passengers breathed sigh of relief.
