Indore: Local members of Bohra community joined the protest on Monday stating that date of Lok Sabha elections will clash with Ramzan month and therefore voting date should change. Shiya Dawoodi Bohra Jamat (Manpur) Indore submitted a memorandum to district election officer Lokesh Jatav to this effect, which was addressed to chief electoral officer and Election Commission.
Shiya Dawoodi Bohra Jamat spokesperson Johar Manpurwala said holy month of Ramzan will start from May 5 and will conclude on June 5. Election Commission will hold voting in Indore on May 19, which will fall during holy month. He said it will be difficult for people to vote as it will be too hot specially for those who will fast during Ramzan. “We have appealed to Election Commission to change the date of voting in Indore,” Manpurwala said.
