Indore: Cannabis worth Rs 1.45 crore seized from autorickshaw driver

Indore: Narcotics branch of state police arrested two persons including an autorickshaw driver with cannabis worth Rs 1.45 crore on Wednesday. The accused supplied cannabis to youths in the city and were going to hide it at a place when they were arrested.

Deputy Inspector General (narcotics) Dr Mahendra Singh Sikarwar said a team was constituted to arrest those involved in supplying narcotic drugs in the city. The team received information that a person named Pawan Dhima, a resident of Badi Gwaltoli, supplies cannabis in city. After the information, the narcotic team started to follow accused from his home. He is an autorickshaw driver and was going to hide cannabis when narcotics team chased him in another autorickshaw.

Accused was going to his another house situated in Umariya village under Kishanganj police station area. The team cordoned off the area and arrested him along with his accomplice Ajeet Borasi. Cannabis that weighed more than 145 kilograms was recovered from them.

The accused have been arrested under Section 8/20 NDPS Act. A woman is also a suspect in the case. The team is inquiring about her role. The seized cannabis is worth Rs 1.45 crore in international market. Accused Pawan supplied cannabis in schools, colleges and other places in the city. DIG Sikarwar has announced a cash reward for the team, which arrested the accused.
