Indore: A 42-year-old businessman committed suicide by shooting himself with his licensed pistol at his residence on Kanadiya Road on Monday. Before taking such a step, he had sent a message to his friend, which mentioned that he was unhappy with his daughter’s wedding to be held next month though his family members supported it. The police have recovered his mobile phone. He held six people responsible for his suicide. They include his wife, two daughters, his would be son-in-law and latter’s parents.

The deceased has been identified as Dharmendra Singh Rathore, a resident of Vaibhav Nagar area of the city. The incident was discovered when his two servants reached there and repeatedly knocked the door but there was no response from inside. They later informed Rathore’s uncle and a doctor- neighbour after which the door was broken. Dharmendra was found dead on his bed and a revolver was kept near his body.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Rathore had contacted his aunt Anuradha at 8.30 am and told her to come home. He told her that he would no longer be able to talk to her. After that, Rathore ended the call. Anuradha tried to contact him but she could not do so. She informed one of Rathore’s uncles.

Kanadiya police station incharge Anil Singh Chouhan said that before taking such an extreme step, Rathore had sent a message to one of his friends. He mentioned in the message that he is unhappy with elder daughter’s marriage. Daughter’s wedding has been fixed with Shailendra Singh Parihar. His wife had fixed the marriage. This depressed Rathore as he didn’t like Shalendra.

In the message, he wrote that wife Babita, two daughters, Shailendra and his parents had forced him to fix the marriage. He had held daughter’s ring ceremony in October but he was not happy with this relationship. Wedding was to be held in February but he was facing financial difficulties. He told family members to postpone the wedding but they did not agree.

Police said Rathore had an argument with wife and other family members at a wedding function over daughter’s wedding after which Rathore came to city while family members reached Bhopal with his younger brother Sarvendra. On the basis of WhatsApp message and the statements of family members, police are investigating the case.

It is said that two empty bullets were also recovered from outside Rathor’s residence, which were possibly fired by him at night. Police came to know that Rathore had two licensed guns. He ran a catering business and was also a contractor for installing towers of a telecom company.
