Indore: Irked with complexity of GST regime, the local trade and industries organisations demanded relief in tax system during a meeting with state commercial tax minister Brajendra Singh Rathore held at Brilliant Convention Centre on Wednesday. Over 15 leading business associations put their demand and submitted memorandum to the minister.

Though most traders and manufacturers (MSME and large industries) appreciated the GST regime, they highlighted the discrepancies in tax rates and suggested remedial measures. The meeting was organised by commercial tax department. The minister assured to take up their cause at GST Council and resolve their problems.

Commercial tax commissioner DP Ahuja, special commissioner Avinash Lavania, director NS Maravi and joint commissioner Sudip Gupta were present. Ahilya Chamber of Commerce and Industry: President Ramesh Khandelwal said Input Tax Credit problem must be resolved immediately. Traders have been asked to display their GSTN on the shops, which other people misuse. There must be centralised advance ruling system. There should be no yearly returns.

Soybean Processors Association: President Davish Jain said that with regard to export of de-oiled cake, the refund takes time. This blocks capital. He appreciated GST. Pithampur Audyogik Sangathan: President Goutam Kothari expresses displeasure on imposing penalty on traders and manufactures. He said GST should be incentive-based and not penalty-based. Malwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry: President Ajit Singh Narang said there is no representation of traders in GST Council. This should be looked into.

Association of Industries of MP (AIMP): President Alok Dave highlighted discrimination made against MSEM. He said large industries have to file just two returns in a year while MSMEs have to file four returns. MSMEs should also be allowed to file two returns. Hotel and Restaurant Assocation: President Sumit Suri said clause of minimum sell of liquor from restaurants and hotels should be repealed. GST must be applicable on rooms having rent above Rs 2500 not starting from Rs 1000.

Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India: Indore chapter chairman Leeladhar Maheshawri said GST should not be charged on joint land agreement. GST rates difference between under construction property (18%) and ready to possession (5%) should be addressed.

GST introduced in hurry: Rathore

Commercial tax minister Brajendra Singh Rathore said GST was introduced in a hurry. He told mediapersons that state government will take help finance ministers of other states in correcting the tax regime. When asked why the commercial tax department is not taking action in Rs 1100 bogus transaction and Rs 150 crore bogus ITC scam, Rathore said action is being taken.
