Indore: Bumpy ride RTO puts brake on school bus, spikes permits of 3 more vehicles

Indore: Continuing action against school buses and other public transport vehicles, RTO officials on Monday seized a school bus while they suspended the permits of three buses for violating norms and guidelines of the Supreme Court. RTO officials launched the checking drive early in the morning in outskirts of the city and also visited various schools for inspection of the buses. Apart from seizing errant vehicles, department officials also served challans to as many as 7 school buses.

According to ARTO Nisha Chouhan, “We launched a drive against school buses and other public conveyances, especially used for school children early in the morning. As many as 40 vehicles have been checked during the whole day drive.” She said that the buses caught or fined were found running without proper permit or fitness.

A bus of The Junior College School, which was running in poor condition, was seized while fitness and permit of one bus of Poddar International School and two buses of Sri Sri Ravishankar School were suspended. “We have also served challans to five buses of Barfani Convent higher Secondary School which were not following the norms and guidelines of the Supreme Court and their fitness and permit was expired. The school has also been warned not to use buses for ferrying students till rectifying the problems,” the ARTO said. She added that they have the target to check almost every public transport vehicle running in the city next few days to ensure safety and security of the school students.
