Three persons from Rajasthan were arrested by crime branch for supplying brown sugar in the city on Thursday. The team also seized contraband worth Rs 4 lakh from them. On the instruction of senior cops, a team of crime branch was formed to keep an eye on the persons involved in supplying drugs in the city. During investigation, the team received a tip-off that some peddlers from Rajasthan had been supplying drugs in the city and adjacent areas for the past few months.
Additional Superintendent of Police (crime) Amarendra Singh said that the joint team of crime branch and Sarafa police nabbed a person when he was waiting for someone to deliver brown sugar. The accused, identified as Bherulal, is a resident of Gangdhar in Jhalwar (Rajasthan). During search, brown sugar worth Rs 1.3 lakh was recovered from him. He told the police that his two other accomplices were also in the city to supply drugs after which the crime branch started a search for them as well.
The team later arrested Arbaz Khan of Jhalawar from near Lavkush Square and seized brown sugar worth Rs 1.45 lakh from him. The third accused named Shoeb Khan also from Jhalawar was arrested in Pandhrinath with brown sugar worth around Rs 1.25 lakh. Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused came from Rajasthan and they were involved in supplying drugs in MP, UP and other states also.
