Indore: Akshat Jain, six-year-old boy, was on Monday found loitering around on road in Sagar thus pulling curtains on the sensational abduction within 24 hours. Elated family members shared sweets as news of his recovery was received. Anxious mother was made to talk to the boy through video call by SP, east, Mohd Yusuf Qureshi even as other family members broke into celebration.

It was a moment of pride for DIG Harinarayanachari Mishra too. He relinquished the charge as DIG Indore basking in the success of his team. It took some hard nose policing and swift action to solve the case. The police suspect involvement of 10 people in the abduction. Two of them are from Indore and the rest from Lalitpur. The police have already detained five people including the alleged mastermind Santosh.

The cops said that Santosh was a frequent visitor to grocery shop owned by Akshat’s father Rohit Jain. He had conducted a recee of the house and was well aware of the family’s financial condition. Akshat Jain had gone to play with his friends in a garden in Prime City but never returned.

The family came to know of the abduction after they received a call from abductors demanding a ransom of Rs 10 lakh. Initially, they took the call as a prank. However, one of the family members was sent to the garden to bring Akshat back. At the garden, the family member was told by other boys that two persons arrived on a motorcycle and forcibly took Akshat away.

Alarmed family members called the police who immediately swung into action. They only had the mobile number of the abductor to start with. A team was sent to mobile operator to get call details of the abductor. While going through the call details, the cops zeroed in on Santosh. Reason being that the abductor had called him before making the ransom call.

Santosh a factory worker in Banganga area was picked up from house in the night itself. His interrogation and electronic tracking led to two police teams to Tikamgarh and Lalitpur but in vain. The cops continued the chase. Meanwhile, cops posted at Barodia Malthone police outpost in Sagar saw a six-year-old boy loitering around.

As they had been alerted about the abduction, one cop went to the boy and inquired. The reply brought smiles on his face. He rushed back with the boy and immediately informed the team chasing the abductors. Soon phones started ringing from Sagar to Indore. Calls were exchanged, DIG was informed and everyone congratulated each other.

Soon an officer was sent to Akshat’s house to inform the family that the boy has been recovered and was hail and hearty. While other family members started celebrating, his mother was still anxious. She kept on inquiring with the officer. Meanwhile, the team that was chasing the abducted reached Barodia Malthone outpost and took the boy in their custody.

On being informed about mother’s anxiety, Qureshi made a video call to her and made the boy talk to his mother. And thus, the entire incident ended on a happy note. However, the only sour factor was that the abductors were still at large. Cops claimed that the abductors developed cold feet and left the boy near the police outpost in Sagar.

Patwari visits aggrieved family

Sports and youth welfare minister Jitu Patwari, who is an MLA from Rau, visited the Jain family and promised strict action against the abductors. He also consoled Akshat’s mother who was quite distraught. Later, he told the reporters that it would be premature to comment on the case as 10 teams of police were working to crack the case.
