Indore: City BJP president Gopi Nema on Friday issued a show cause notice to Mayor-in-Council (MiC) member Dilip Sharma for leveling allegations of corruption against Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) officials and attacking his fellows in the MiC during council meeting on Thursday. Nema also constituted a 3-member committee to probe into the matter which led to such happening during the IMC council meeting.

Sharma had on Thursday accused the IMC officials of being indulged in corruption and also attacked MiC for sheltering the corrupt. After the meeting, Mayor Malini Gaud, speaker Ajay Singh Naurka, three MiC members and 17 BJP corporators had lodged a complaint with Nema seeking action against him.

They claimed that Sharma had levelled allegations without any proofs and attacked the MiC members without any reason.
Following the complaint, Nema served notice on Sharma giving him three days to reply. He also gave the committee comprising former mayor Umashahi Sharma, former IDA chairman Shankar Lawani 10 days to complete their probe and submit report.

Meanwhile, Congress corporators called on divisional commissioner Akash Tripathi claiming that the IMC speaker did not conduct the council meeting fairly. They also attacked the Mayor and demanded from removal of both the speaker and Gaud.

Cong in contact with Sharma

The Congress is reportedly sending feelers to Sharma for joining the party. A Congress leader said that they are in touch with Sharma and asked him to think of joining their party. Sharma is a strong leader. “If he joins us, our strength will increase,” he said. Sources claimed that Sharma is no mood to join the Congress but could think of doing so if withdrawn as an MiC member. Meanwhile, he approached BJP senior leader Krishna Murari Moghe seeking his support.
