Indore: The final battle lines for Indore Parliamentary Constituency have been drawn on Thursday when three independent candidates withdrew their nominations. Now 20 candidates, including Shankar Lalwani from BJP and Pankaj Sanghvi from INC, are left in fray. Since, there are more than 16 candidates, therefore two ballet units (EVMs) will be used in polling booth. Following closing hours of withdrawal of the nomination papers, District Election Officer and Collector Lokesh Kumar Jatav held press meet at his office on Thursday.
Jatav said that 20 candidates have been left in fray for the Lok Sabha election 2019. Three candidates Syed Nizam, Haji Nasir Khan and Hemant Goyal withdrew their names. Since there are more than 16 candidates, therefore, two ballet units will be installed at each polling booth. Highlighting the polling preparations, he said that there are 2,881 polling stations in the district. Candidates have been allotted election symbol on Thursday itself. Post ballot and ETPBS will be sent from Friday.
About 3,000 ballot units are being sought from the Election Commission. This ballot unit will arrive by May 8 and their first label of checking will be done in front of the candidates or their representatives. After voting at the polling stations, the battery will be removed from the VVPAT machine in front of the political agents, he added. Jatav said that the model code of conduct (MCC) is being followed strictly in the district. Legal action will be taken against any one violating MCC. The investigation is done on receipt of a complaint and after investigation, action will be taken if found guilty. ADMs Neha Meena, Ajay Dev Sharma and Kailash Wankhede were also present in the meeting.
