Indore : The proposed Indore bandh on August 5 was called off as the traders reached agreement with the State Government. On Tuesday, a meeting of members of New VAT Form Struggle Committee and Finance Minister Jayant Mallaiya was held in Bhopal.
It was stated that the traders were emphasing on keeping the old VAT return form as the new form is quite lengthier one.
To oppose the move of CT department, the state body of the trades had called for city bandh on August 5.
Two decisions were taken in the meeting:
1. Traders are allowed to file old VAT return forms till the GST is implemented
2. Interested traders can also file VAT return in new forms.
Joint-Secretary of the New VAT Form Struggle Committee Sushil Sureka said that as the traders accepted the ‘outcome’ of the meeting with the FM, their call for Indore bandh on August 5 was withdrawn.
During the meeting, president of the New VAT Form Struggle Committee Ramesh Khandelwal, Joint Secretary Sushil Sureka, Isaac Choudhary, Ashwin Lakhotiya, Hitesh J Mehta, RS Goyal, Nandkishore Panchal and Hansraj Jain were present.
