Indore: State cyber cell of police on Friday arrested a B.Tech student for allegedly creating a fake profile on instagram in the name of a minor girl and sending inappropriate messages to her friends. The minor wanted to defame the girl as she was reportedly teasing him over petty issues. Further investigation is underway into the case.
Superintendent of Police (cyber cell) Jitendra Singh said the girl’s parents had lodged a complaint on May 22, 2018 regarding the same. Parents stated in their complaint that an unidentified person had created a fake profile of their daughter and was sending inappropriate messages to her friends through the profile. After receiving a complaint, the investigation was handed over to inspector Ambarish Mishra.
During the investigation, Mishra managed to trace the person and later arrested him from his residence in Juni Indore area on Friday. The minor boy is a neighbour of the victim and he allegedly confessed to create the profile. He is pursuing B.Tech from IT branch from a city college. He said the girl used to tease him over petty issues so he prepared a plan to defame her by creating fake profile of social media. The cyber cell team is trying to recover the device through which he had created the fake profile.
