Indore: One more patient suffering from swine flu died at a private hospital on Wednesday. With this, the toll has reached 24 in city since January 1 this year. Besides, three more patients have tested positive of deadly disease.

The rising number of patients from H1N1 virus in the city has become a major concern for health department. Integrated Diseases Surveillance Programme nodal officer Dr Santosh Sisodiya said latest swine flu victim was a 54-year-old man, resident of Annapurna Nagar, who was admitted to Apple Hospital on February 28 and was diagnosed with H1N1 positive on March 5. He was brought in a critical condition to hospital.

“It has been observed that swine flu patients were suffering from other diseases earlier and later contracted H1N1. People suffering from other diseases are vulnerable to H1N1 attack,” Dr Sisodiya remarked. He said taking proper precaution and covering face while coughing are the best ways to avoid the pig influenza.
