Department of Higher Education (DHE) on Tuesday asked district collectors, who double up as returning officers at the time of elections, to allow professors to conduct pre-affiliation inspections also at colleges. In a letter address to collectors, additional commissioner (higher education) Ved Prakash stated that the deadline to grant affiliation to government and private colleges for session 2019-20 is April 30.
“Pre-affiliation inspections are a must for grant of affiliation to colleges. The affiliations hinge on inspection team’s report,” the letter states. The DHE informed collector that the universities have constituted inspections teams consisting of professors. “If these professors are also deployed into election duty for polls, it is requested to allow the professors to go out of the headquarters for conducting inspection at colleges,” the letter reads. The letter was issued after the universities from across the state informed the DHE that it would not be possible for it to complete the affiliation process by April 30 as most of their professors have been deployed in poll duty.
