Indore: Absconding trigger-happy criminal held

A notorious criminal, who was on the run after firing bullets at a petrol pump and outside a house, was arrested by city crime branch on Thursday. He was also involved in damaging cars in an auto garage in Lasudia area. During his on-the-run period, he was hiding in rural area and was supplying cannabis.

TEAM FORMED
Senior Superintendent of Police Ruchi Vardhan Mishra said a team was constituted to nab criminal Ankit Sharma, who was on the run after opening fire at petrol pump and for his involvement in other crimes in the city. Police also announced a reward of Rs 30,000 on his arrest.

TIP-OFF
The crime branch team received a tip-off that Ankit was hiding in Thulet village under Khudel police station jurisdiction. Joint team of crime branch and Khudel police station raided a hideout in the village and managed to arrest Ankit from there. The place where he was staying was also searched by the team and recovered cannabis weighted over 24 kg from there. He was later booked by Khudel police for supplying cannabis during on his hideout period.

ANKIT ‘CONFESSION’
Ankit allegedly told the police that he runs a gang which is also involved in supplying cannabis in the rural area. He told that he along with accomplice Krishna Katare and Mohit Bhat had gone to one Harpreet Singh’s place in Juni Indore where Krishna and Mohit had tried to attack Harpeet using knife. Then Ankit had opened fire outside Harpreet’s house on March 22, 2019.

THE ASSOCIATES
He told the police that Ankit’s friends Assu and Araslan work as agents to sell and buy used vehicles and Harpreet used to extort money from them. Manpreet used to threaten them when they refused to give him money. To take revenge from Harpreet, Ankit had opened fire outside his house. In that case, police are still searching for Krishna and Mohit.

WHAT HAPPENED ON MARCH 25
On March 25, Ankit along with Jeevan Bhat reached Raja Petrol Pump on Dhar Road where he had opened fire on an employee named Arvind alias Sudhir. However, Arvind escaped from the bullet. Ankit’s friend Rohit had to take Rs 15000 from a youth named Ritesh and they had also threatened Ritesh over phone for money. Then Ritesh had told about the threatening to his friend works at the petrol pump. Ankit knew about his friends so he had gone to petrol pump to threatened Ritesh’s friends.

On March 25, 2019, Ankit along with accused Krishna and Mohit reached the garage in Lasudia area owned by Harpreet and Ravinder and they had damaged eight cars parked there after threatening security guard there. Again, Ankit along with accomplice Shubham Milani reached Raja Petrol Pump and they fired a bullet on an employee there.

He told the police that he had sold his friend’s house to one Faruq and Ankit wanted to take money as a commission. He was asking Faruq for money but Faruq had denied after which he had gone to petrol pump again in the search of Faruq.  Ankit was earlier booked for his involved in murder, attempt to murder, assault etc.
