Indore: 8 villages of district declared TB-FREE

Along with being number one in cleanliness, Indore has also become number one in controlling tuberculosis. As many as eight villages of Indore district have been declared TB-free. Moreover, this is the highest number of villages in any district of the state that have become TB-free.

TB control programme nodal officer Dr Vijay Chhajlani said eight villages of Mhow, Hatod and Sanwer blocks have been declared TB-free as no new TB patients were identified in last two years. He said nation has a target to eliminate TB by 2025 but in Indore deadline for 2022 has been set up.

“Indore has also topped in notifying TB in private set-ups and for giving maximum amount (of money) to doctors for notifying the disease,” Dr Chhajlani said while addressing the felicitation programme organised by district health committee (TB) Indore, on Tuesday.

Talking about private institutions, he said Choithram Hospital has notified highest number of patients in Indore.“We have distributed about Rs 2 crore to patients for treatment and to the doctors to motivate them for notifying patients. Government has made notification of patients compulsory and medical practitioners who fail to do so can be jailed for one year or can be fined up to Rs 1 lakh,” Dr Chhajlani said.

Besides doctors, ANMs, paramedical staff, NGOs, volunteers and others were felicitated by the committee. Chief medical and health officer Dr Pravin Jadia, Dr GD Nagar, Dr Atul Kharrate and Dr MP Sharma were chief guests at the felicitation function.
