Indore: The fifth pit line at city railway station will become operational by this month end paving way for starting new trains from city, including Indore-Guwahati Express.
Railway Board has appraised the progress of fifth pit line work to Lok Sabha Speaker and local MP Sumitra Mahajan. Official sources informed that a member of the board had briefed work progress to Mahajan.
Construction of the pit line was started in August and was to be completed by October. Later, the deadline was extended four times – December 15 and 31, January and February 7.
The board members have assured to take suitable action against officers responsible for delay in the construction of pit line.
After the fifth pit line becomes operational, maintenance of other four pit lines will be carried out one by one. All the pit lines will be ready by the end of April. Meanwhile, the construction of second pit line at Mhow will also be completed. Two new pit lines, one each at Indore and Mhow, will pave for starting new trains from the city.
