Indore: The two-day event campaigning for #DrugFreeIndia initiative concluded at Vidyasagar School on Tuesday. The initiative has been launched by followers of spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravishankar. Showing ill effects of drugs on family, friends through seminars and presentation, volunteers addressed school students during the two-day event.

“By 13 years of age, about 50 percent of boys have tried an illicit substance. It was found in one of our surveys and it is time we take action,” volunteer Kanchan Rathore said. She said consuming a substance out of curiosity can lead to addiction in no time.

“Drugs cost 7,500 crore Indian lives every year. We need to understand how a little mistake today can cost us tomorrow,” volunteer Sachin Khandelwal said. He asked students to consider their parent’s life if they were to indulge in drugs and lose their sense.

“A person on drugs might feel good initially but causes pain later,” volunteer Vishaka Rajurkar said. She showed how painful it was to take drugs using needles. “Now, the question is how we can avoid drugs? Let’s find better ways to beat stress rather than taking drugs,” volunteer Ankita Mahobia said. Sneha Chansarkar urged them to seek help from teachers, parents and counsellors but never opt for drugs. School principal Dinesh Sharma also talked about harmful effects of drugs. “Do not to come under any pressure specially peer pressure, stress to become addict of any substance,” he said.
