The city crime branch on Saturday arrested five persons of an interstate gang for supplying drugs and recovered brown sugar worth Rs 7 lakh from their possession. One of the accused ferried brown sugar from Rajasthan and was supplying the consignment to the city and other districts with the help of accomplices.
A team of crime branch officials was constituted by senior police officials to trace the persons involved. Acting on a tip-off that few persons from Rajasthan were active in the city, the crime branch started searching for the drugs suppliers and managed to arrest three persons from Kanadiya area. The accused identified as Jagdish Bakoriya of Musakhedi, Imran alias Lala Khan of Pratapgarh, Rajasthan and Amir Khan of Barnagar district Ujjain.
During the search, about 40 gm brown sugar and Rs 23900 was recovered from them. The accused were booked by Kanadiya police under Section 8/21 of NDPS Act. Accused Imran hails from Pratapgarh and he used to supply drugs in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. He along with relative Amir had created a network for supplying brown sugar in Indore, Ujjain, Dewas etc. They used to supply the drugs with the help of local suppliers. Jagdish is their local accomplice to supply the drugs here.
During questioning, Imran informed the police that he had supplied brown sugar to a few persons in Hira Nagar area after that police arrested two more persons named Deepak Tiwari of Lahiya Colony and Sonu alias Vicky Shrivas of Pardeshipura. brown sugar weighed around 30 gram was also recovered from them. Accused Jagdish was earlier booked for his involved in murder, attempt to murder, loot, theft etc. The source of the brown sugar and the persons to whom they delivered the drugs is being questioned.
