Indore: Four persons were arrested in connection with bike lifting in Banganga police station area on Thursday. Thirty-one two-wheelers and a car were recovered from the accused.
On the instruction of Senior Superintendent of Police Ruchi Vardhan Mishra, a team from Banganga police station was constituted to trace the people involved in vehicle lifting cases in the city. The team was working on it when a tip-off came around saying that two persons were waiting for someone to deliver a stolen bike near Laxmibai Nagar railway station.
After the information, police team cordoned off the area and detained two persons named Monu Bhagwat of IDA built flats in Nainod area and Pappu Verma of Pologround area of the city. A Honda Shine bike was recovered from them.
The bike was reportedly stolen from Bangaga area a few days ago. Following the lead given by the accused, police arrested their two accomplices Yogesh Mali and Ranvir Sisgar of Ujjain. Another bike stolen from Banganga area was recovered from them.
Accused Monu reportedly told the police that he was collecting money for his sister’s marriage so he got involved in this racket. Another accused told that he is a photographer and wanted to buy a expensive camera due to which he got involved in this crime.
They told the police that Hero CD Down bike is in high demand as its engine can be turned into the machine used for preparing sugarcane juice. The accused had stolen many bikes on demand of the buyers. After stealing bikes, the accused used to keep them in the parking lot of Shri Aurobindo Hospital and Laxmibai Nagar railway station.
They had kept some of the vehicles at their homes. During questioning, police recovered 31 two-wheelers and a car from them. The accused has confessed to have stolen more than 40 bikes from Tukoganj, Hira Nagar, Vijay Nagar and other parts of the city. A Hyundai car which was recovered from them was stolen from Marimata area. The price of recovered vehicle is around 20 lakh
