Indore: Choithram Hospital and Research Centre (CHRC) held a presentation session for school students under their 38th anniversary celebration at Choithram Hospital auditorium on Friday.
Live demonstration of intra gastric balloon placement for obesity and endoscopic ultrasound guided coil placement for gastric varices and glue insertion was presented before over 350 students of Class XI and XII students from various schools, including Queen’s College, Delhi Public School, New Digamber Public School, Alpine Public School, Alpine Academy, Chhatrapati Shivaji School, L G Academy, Rayan Public School and Badri Higher Secondary School.
The session was presided by HOD of gastroenterology, CHRC, Dr Ajay Jain. Question-answer round was addressed by Dr Sohini Sircar, Dr Vineet Gautam and Dr Amit Joshi.
Students were given awards for asking questions during the discussion. First awarded question was asked by Kshitij Verma from Delhi Public School (DPS), who enquired “What if bleeding is near the ampullary region from where the bile comes and if the region is glued then what will be the alternatives to take out the bile?”
Another award winning question by Devyani Bhatnagar from DPS was about the symptoms of catching a disease after balloon placement.
Similarly, Diksha Verma from Queen’s College was awarded for asking, “If the patient is not taking proper amount of food as the balloon has occupied the space in the stomach, wouldn’t it result in weakness or deficiency of nutrition or paleness in the patient?”
Medical services deputy director Dr Amit Bhatt presented awards to the winners.
