Indore: Three masked men robbed Rs 6.5 lakh from Bandhan Bank in Vidur Nagar area under Dwarakapuri police station in Indore on Monday. The robbers covered their faces using piece of cloth. No security personnel were available at the branch, police said.

According to police, the incident took place when one of the bank employees was working on the cash counter. At least 12 customers and 8 other staffer were present in the branch at the time of incident.

TI Ram Narayan Bhadoriya said the miscreants entered the bank allegedly carrying a pistol, an axe and a knife.

Talking to reporters Bank Manager Satya Narayan Dabi said the robbers attacked the cash counter with an axe. They opened fire in air twice towards the street triggering panic in the branch. However, no one was injured in the firing.

Dabi added that the robbers came on a bike bearing no number plate. Staffers and some customers tried to chase them but all in vain.

Police said that the incident took place between 3 pm and 4 pm. “We are questioning some of the bank employees who were present at the time of incident.

Charges made by the bank employees are also being verified. Footages obtained from the CCTV cameras will be explored for detailed investigations”, the police said.
