The second edition of JEE main, entrance exam for engineering admission, concluded on Friday. The six-day long exam included two papers – paper 1 for BE/ BTech and paper 2 for architecture. As per the official information, the JEE (main) result will be released by April 30. National Testing Agency will announce the result on its official portal.

About 13,000 students in Indore appeared for JEE mains second edition. Most students found the paper bit difficult. Many hoped to make cut offs and get a chance to study in Indian Institute of Technology.  “It was not too easy or difficult but as expected a balanced but challenging paper,” 18-year-old examinee Aditya Mishra said. He found physics comparatively easy with few challenging topics. “Chemistry was difficult, especially organic section,” Aditya said.

Chemistry had tricky questions that confused many students. “Mathematics was average, quite easy,” examinee Ketan Kumar Dongre remarked. Akarsh Puri, Rakshit Gunjit Walecha and Pratham Sahay were happy. “It was not easy but it went well especially mathematics and physics,” they said.

Subject-wise analysis

Physics
Physics questions were solvable. Numerical did not involve lot of calculation. Only one question from thermodynamics was asked. There was nearly equal distribution of class XII and class XI syllabus.

Chemistry
Certain questions from unexpected portions were asked that required information about structures of compounds like choloroxylenol and even penicillin. Chemistry in everyday life turned out to be an important chapter.

Mathematics
The paper was very easy. Once again a nearly equal distribution of class XI and class XII syllabus.

Prepare for future, VC tells students
Students often choose their stream and plan career based on opportunities available but ideally students should prepare and educate themselves for future opportunities. Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya vice chancellor Narendra Dhakad stated this while addressing a career counselling session organised at Mahaveer Bhawan on Friday. About 350 students including girls from Kasturba School attended the function.

“Technology is changing everyday. We need to consider what will be the opportunities after 10 years,” Dhakad said. He talked about fields that students should consider other than engineering and medical. “Students with mathematics can opt for courses in artificial intelligence and robotics other than engineering,” Dhakad said.

He talked about opportunities present in paramedical sector. Educationist Dr NitinTanted gave tips on how to prepare for competitive exam. “Mathematics and language are essential to clear competitive exam,” he said. Economist Jayantilal Bhandari answered questions on aeronautical engineering and preparation for becoming a chartered accountant.
