Indore : The Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya has announced plans to launch a Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme in Hindi language from session 2016-17.

If all goes to the plan, the DAVV would be the first university in the country to introduce an MBA programme in Hindi language.

Institute of Management Studies (IMS) of DAVV would offer the programme in Hindi language.

“Department of Official Language has given its nod to our proposal to run MBA programme in Hindi language. We have now sought permission from All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to launch the programme,” IMS director PN Mishra said.

The AICTE is a regulator for technical and management courses in the country. Without its permission, new MBA programmes can’t be introduced.

Mishra said that he does not think that there would be any problem for the AICTE to give its approval on their proposal.

The idea to run MBA programme in Hindi language came following long pending demands of students.

Many students come to us and request to run MBA programme in Hindi language. We have accepted their demand and sent proposal to the AICTE. Once the permission is received, we will start the first MBA programme of the country in Hindi language.

The DAVV has also planned to offer PhD course in management in Hindi language.

“As of now, that’s just an idea. We will seek permission from coordination committee, which is the highest body of higher education in the state, to run doctoral research degree programme in management studies shortly,” Mishra said.

Till date, only one PhD has been awarded in management studies in Hindi language by the DAVV. Special permission was sought for a candidate who wished to do PhD in management studies in Hindi language and after the permission was received his wish was granted.
