Indore : Indoreans want proper implementation of the budget announcements as sometimes big promises made by the minister in the floor of Lower House were never kept. During presentation of budget, Railway Minister DV Sadananda Gowda expressed his government’s desire to seek foreign and domestic private investment to fund modernization of Railways.
Ankit Sharma, an IT professional, said, “Every year, I see slew of promises made in the Lok Sabha during the budget session. But, implementation of these promises never seems to happen on the ground level.”
Cleanliness in trains and platforms remain the key issue of passengers as Nishant Sharma, a bank employee, said: “Railway authority fails to cleanness in the platforms, tracks and trains. I would appreciate if the announcement of installing CCTV to monitor cleanliness works effectively and bring some positive changes in the railway stations.”
Anil Dubey, an accountant, said, “The lethargic system of our country is the biggest loophole. The announcement made this year happens to take the shape in the final year of the government’s tenure. This slow implementation of budget plans leaves passengers just anticipating of new improved services promised by the Railway Ministry.”
Women’s safety is another key issue that the city women laud for. Chavi Krishna, a business consultant, who keeps travelling for work purpose, said, “Ensuring women constables in trains along with active women Helpline No, cleanliness are certain things that the railway ministry should take on priority basis.”
Introduction of branded food in trains along with service of ready-to-eat meals, revamp of reservation system facilitating 7,200 tickets per minute through e-ticketing along with Wi-Fi and work station facilities on selected trains are sounding icing on the cake but the poor implementation of budget announcements worries the people of the city.
Joshna Mishra, a housewife speaking on the railway budget said, “The railway ministry should focus on strength the service system so that announcements made during the budget gets implemented forcefully.”
