IMC Mayor, corporator elections likely in Nov

First time, the election would be held through modified EVMs

Indore: The elections for IMC corporators and Mayor are likely to be held around November and for the first time the elections would be held through modified version of EVMs, which will have NOTA button. Timing of the polling would be from 8am to 5pm and if needed it may be increased.

While addressing media persons here on Friday, State Election Commissioner (SEC) R Parshuram said that for the first time in the State, the civic body elections would be held through modified EVMs. Only the election for the panchs would be held through paper ballots.

He said that the preparations for the elections have begun.Whan asked about the timing of election, he said that election for urban bodies would be held around November, because their tenure is going to end by the year-end while elections for Panchayats would be held around January.

Parshuram also expressed satisfaction on the prepration of Indore district administration. The timing of the voting would be from 8am to 5pm. The Model of Conduct will be same as of the Election Commission of India and if there would be any need then it may be amended. There will be photo bearing electoral rolls, which would be prepared after the publication of final report of delimitation. He further said that there would be more and more use of IT and we would also carry out the voter awareness campaign in large scale to acquaint voters with new EVMs.

The modified EVMs

New EVMs would be use din the civic body election. It will have real time clock, which will register starting and ending timings of the polling. The time would not be reset. The EVM would also bear a DMM, a small pen drive like device with will store the voting data. In case of any invalid operation, a red light will start blinking.
