Dewas : Continuous rains for the last 72 hours has alerted the administration and 113mm of rainfalls were witnessed in the district. The average rainfall that the region has received as of now is around 403mm.
Rivers such as Kshipra, Narmada, Kali Sindh, Lodhari, Bagdi, Kasarani, and other tributaries are now flowing with full flow. The road leading to Dewas today was also cut off because of these rains. Many of the colonies in the region are water logged.
The main reason behind the water logging of the colonies has been the lack of drainage facilities in the region. It is reported that the municipality does not want the issue to be resolved, as it would ensure a way to stack money for some of the politicos.
BJP leader and former corporator Dileep Thakur accused that the rains are a source of earning for many administrative officers and corporators as they earn much in the name of development. The main reason behind stocking of water in the areas are the illegal colonies that have been developed in Dewas. The State government as of now has not taken any decision with regards to these colonies.
