IIT- I student gets Rs 63 lakh package

Indore: Even as the campus placements are underway at Indian Institutes of Technology, a good news has come out of the IIT Indore. An Indore lass and student of the IIT Indore, Shivani Gupta, has been offered $ 1 lakh ( about Rs 63 lakh) package from a US- based company, EPIC Systems.

This offer is unique in many ways.It’s the first international placement to a student of IIT- Indore, which was established in 2009, and which saw the first batch graduating out last year. This offer has gone to a girl student.Take note: Not many girls make it to the IITs.

The offer is offshore one that means it has not been received during campus placements. This is perhaps the highest offer to any student of Indore based institutes.Even students of IIM- Indore that was established 17 years ago have not got such a big package. The highest package to a student of the IIM Indore stood at Rs 38 lakh.

A student of computer science department of IIT Indore, Shivani is on cloud nine after receiving the offer from the US company.“ Indeed I’m very happy to have been acknowledged by an international company.” She attributed her achievement to her parents.Shivani’s father, Rajesh Gupta – a resident of Radha Nagar in Malharganj area — is into real estate business and her mother Sunita is a homemaker.

Besides, she has als o r e ceived an offer of R s 1 6 . 5 lakh p ackage from Mi crosof t for working in h o m e cout ry. She has not rejected this offer as ofo w. “ I wil l keep t h e offer pendig til l I r e ceive m y visa ,” she sai d .
