Indore : With the temperature swinging from high to low and sudden changes in humidity, the risk of catching infections has increased. While taking care of children’s health is crucial throughout the year, it becomes essential that children do not fall sick during examinations.

Looking at the prevailing weather conditions during the examination season, district Integrated Diseases Surveillance Program Nodal Officer, Dr GS Lodhi and school teacher Sundus Khan shared tips on taking care of students during weather changes.

 Use disinfectants

Lodhi said that because of humidity, dirt and infections stick on tables and floors. Therefore, it is a must that strong disinfectants like Dettol and Phenol are used generously.

Ensure nutrition and safety with super-foods

Khan said, “Because of examination and prevailing weather conditions, parents should work on boosting the immunity of their children.” This can be done by ensuring a diet comprising of bananas, fruit juices and milk, preferably with turmeric powder, she advised.

 Take care of hygiene

Lodhi said, “We often ignore little pointers of hygiene like washing hands and basic healthcare and this leads to infection.” He added that special care should be taken that children are extra careful about their hygiene during the prevailing weather.

 Water intake a must

Khan said, “During examinations, children are so engrossed in preparing for the exam that they do not consume enough water.” Lack of water intake often makes children sick, and with the changing weather conditions, children might suffer from dehydration, as Lodhi explained.
