Indore : Following a protest by NSUI activists, a librarian of Government Holkar Science College had to tender apology in writing to three students who had accused him of making their caste related remarks.
According to information, three students including Vikas Suriya and Deepak Chauhan, belonging to SC category had gone to the library to take some books. There, they had heated exchanges with librarian GC Kori over some petty issue. After coming out of the library, the trio students called NSUI leaders and informed them that Kori made derogatory remarks against their caste.
The NSUI activists took the trio students to principal RK Tugnawat’s office and lodged a complaint against Kori.
They also threatened of lodging a police complaint in the matter if immediate action against Kori.
The principal constituted a two-member committee to probe into the charges of the students. The committee recorded their statements even as back channel efforts were made for compromise in the matter. The efforts yielded positive results as Kori agreed to give an apology in writing to the students.
He, however, claimed that he did not make any caste related remarks. He said: “I couldn’t make caste related remarks against the students belonging to SC category as I myself is a SC category person.”
