Heavy rains cripple normal life

Indore: At a time when residents are finding it hard to cope with the dipping temperature and heavy rains lashed the City again on Tuesday. The rains accompanied with hailstones threw normal life out of gear. It is noteworthy that sudden rainfall had surprised the citizens on Monday as well. People brought out their raincoats and umbrellas following rainfall.

The rain started at 8 pm on Monday and it continued till Tuesday evening. Those who were on roads had nowhere to take shelter and wet clothes increased the bite of cold manifold. Those who organized wedding receptions and programmes were the worst hit and were struggling to keep their celebrations going as the guests ran for shelter when it started raining.

The total rainfall recorded in last 24 hrs was 5.3mm which pulled down the mercury by 5 degrees below the normal and the maximum temperature was also recorded at 26.4 degree Celsius. However, the minimum temperature was recorded above three degree at 15.3 degree Celsius. The Met officials said that the condition prevailed due to low pressure generated in the Bay of Bengal region.They further said that the condition may prevail for couple of days more.

BRTS disrupted Apart from rickshaws, motorbikes and cars, water- logging caused by the winter rains also choked BRTS Corridor at several places and commuters faced difficulties. Due to water- logging, traffic movement in parts of the Corridor got disrupted for an extended period of time.
