Indore: Moved by a public interest litigation (PIL) alleging non-compliance of provisions of the MP Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, the Indore bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court, on Friday issued notices to the Principal Secretary (Home), DGP, Indore collector, both the SPs of Indore and in-charges of 25 city police stations. A division bench of Justices PK Jaiswal and JK Jain asked the respondents to submit their respective replies within eight weeks. The PIL filed by RTI activist Jitendra J Singh in April alleged that police stations in the city are not keeping track of senior citizens living in their respective jurisdictions, which is mandatory as per the provisions of the Act. Counsel of petitioner, KK Kunhare said, “RTI applications filed by the petitioner in different city police stations found that most of TIs were unaware about provisions of the Act and were not keeping track of senior citizens.”
