Indore : On a PIL against installation of high tension line in middle of Susner in Agar-Malwa district, the Indore bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court, on Tuesday issued notices to the Central Government, State government and Madhya Pradesh Western Area Power Distribution Company seeking their reply within three weeks.

A Susner-resident and petitioner Asha Bhausar stated that for installation of high tension line, the Discom is required to take permission from competent authority. “If case of residential area, local body’s permission is required. But in Susner a high tension line with 33 KV of power is being installed in residential area without any permission from local body.”

She added that the high tension line passes over many houses and a government school.

Counsel of petitioner Manish Vijayvargiya said several researches had proved that high tension line creates an electromagnetic field in the radius of six metres and living objects coming into the field could get adversely affected. Dispite the fact, the Discom is taking the high tension line from middle of the town.

Bhausar said that the Susner Municipal Council had lodged a complaint against the company with district administration that in turn ordered to stop the work but to no avail. “The Discom continues to install high tension line and thereby life of 50,000 in the town at risk.”
