Directs senior party leaders to convince their supports who filed nominations to back off
Indore: Mohan Prakash and Madhusudan Mistry failed to deliver so Congress president Sonia Gandhi has now sent Union Minister Harish Rawat to the State to rein in party leaders, who are moving in different directions.
Soon after his arrival in Bhopal on Saturday, Rawat sent a message to the party stalwarts asking them to force their supporters, who filed nominations as independent candidates, to withdraw from elections in support of the party candidates,” a senior leader in the party told Free Press.
Rawat reportedly informed the stalwarts that the party has a list of candidates whom they had sought tickets but failed to get it.
“ All those denied tickets if had filed nominations as independent candidates should be discouraged and convinced to pull back.
If not so, negative marking would be done in the CR of the leaders, who recommended names of such candidates, who turned dissident over denial of ticket,” Rawat reportedly told the party stalwarts.
Sources claimed that Rawat himself called up Union Ministers Kamalnath and Jyortiadtiya Scidina and gave them message of the party high command.
Rawat will tour the state from Tuesday and identify dissidents. He will report about them to the election control room of the party.Besides, he would also play coordinator during the elections.
