Indore: Gates of Academic Staff College (ASC) located on the campus of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) could be opened on Monday only after locks of its director Namrata Sharma’s house were broken! Sharma had keys of the college. She kept the keys at her house and went to Raipur thinking little how the college would be opened without the keys.

When staffers reached the college in the morning they found it locked. For more than half an hour they waited someone to come with keys but when nobody turned up, they called up Sharma asking for keys.Sharma informed the employees that she was in Raipur and had left keys of the college at her residence. She reportedly asked if spare keys are with some employee. Nobody had spare keys so she asked the employees to break open locks of her house and bring keys of the college.

A group of employees went to her house and broke the locks. They then went inside to search for the keys. Sharma also informed them that the college’s keys were kept over the refrigerator. Employees grabbed the keys from there and they went to the college and opened the gates.

Sharma was supposed to hand over director’s charge to some teacher of the college before going on leave and also hand over the keys to the in-charge. But she did not follow the set procedure. Also in haste, she left the college’s keys inside her house. When contacted over phone, she admitted to have left the college’s keys inside her house but claimed that the employees need not have to break open the locks of her house.

“They had spare keys from which they opened the gates of the college,” Sharma said. However, the employees said that they had brought keys from Sharma’s house.
