Indore : Shri Atal Behari Vajpayee Government Arts and Commerce College also known as GACC has named its newly-constructed auditorium after APJ Abdul Kalam.

“In a tribute to Kalam, we have named our newly constructed auditorium after his name,” said GACC Principal SL Garg. He said that the suggestion to name the auditorium after Kalam had come from employees of the college.

The auditorium would be inaugurated by Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) Vice Chancellor Prof DP Singh, on August 13.

The college during its golden jubilee year had received a grant of Rs 25 lakh from the University Grants Commission (UGC) which it spent on construction of the auditorium. The auditorium has a seating capacity of 250 people and it’s furnished with latest equipment.

“It’s a state-of-the-art facility,” said Garg.

The GACC has also constructed an academic block exclusively for MBA courses. “The college has planned to run MBA courses from next academic session, so a building has been constructed on the campus for management courses,” Garg said.
