Indore : It seems, slogan ‘Jago Grahak Jago’ is working wonder among people and some of them are taking it very seriously. Some even sought help from the District Consumer Forum to get justice.

On Friday, the Consumer Forum imposed penalty on city based bus operator–Hans Travels– for causing difficulty to a passenger. Besides, it also fined the operator for late arrival of bus and causing loss to the passengers.

Akhil Kacholiya, a plaintiff, booked a bus ticket from Hans Travels to visit Ahmedabad on November 22. During the journey, the bus developed some technical problems about 27 km from Ahmedabad. But, the bus operator did not make any alternative arrangement to drop the passengers.

Instead, bus staffers left the plaintiff in between the journey. The plaintiff was going to Ahmedabad for inauguration of his shop. He had to hire a taxi to reach Ahmedabad and spent Rs 2,240 for the purpose.

Apart from monetary loss, the plaintiff couldn’t conduct inauguration of his shop on 23-11-2013 at the auspicious time. The plaintiff suffered because of poor service of the bus operator. To get justice, the plaintiff moved the Consumer Forum. Taking the matter seriously, the Forum imposed a penalty of Rs 5,500 on the bus operator.
