Finance ministry ensures welfare of opium farmers

Mandsaur : Recently, finance ministry said in its press release that opium farmers yielding around 56 kilogram will be considered eligible for lease in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. In a bid to fulfill the increasing demands from global markets, the leases are likely to be given to farmers who have given crop in the last few years and those farmers fulfilling the condition of MQY will be included. It is reported that Mandsaur MP Sudheer Gupta, Chittorgarh MP CP Joshi along with MLAs Kailash Chawala, Jagdish Dewda, Rajendra Panday, Omprakash Saklega and Yashpal Singh stressed to ensure the welfare of farmers. Notably, Gupta and Joshi collectively worked for the welfare of farmers after the policy was announced. The leaders approached the state finance minister Jayant Sinha and officials and discussed the issues related to farmers. Following the steps taken by the leaders, the finance ministry made the concerned announcement.
