Indore : Food and Drug Administration Department on Wednesday raided at a Kattha (Catechu, Gambier is another species of same fruit) factory, located in Palda area, and seized more than 200 kg of pan paste and 50 kg of Kaththa.
The samples of catechu, gambier and pan paste have been sent for testing at Bhopal laboratory.
As per information, the initial raid was conducted by the Crime Branch at Satguru products after getting the information of adulteration in the food products.
Senior Food Safety officer Manish Swami said that during the raid, they have found labelling violation in the product ‘Navrang’ of the manufacturer.
“Due to the labelling violation, we have seized about 10 cartons of the pan paste that is about 200 kg and 50 kg of catechu. We have also collected the samples of gambier and sent the samples to the laboratory,” Swami said.
He further said that the pan paste was claimed as the paste used for mehandi but the sign of food product was engraved on the packing.
Action will be taken against the manufacturer on finding any adulteration in the products.
