Family tries to stage chakka jam to protest police apathy

Indore : The family of a Class XI student suspects that her death was not accidental but she was murdered. The family had also tried to stage a chakka jam while taking out her funeral procession, alleging police apathy in the matter. However, the police said that the girl was injured when she fell off of a motorcycle and was rushed to a hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

It may be recalled that Deepa (name changed), 16, a resident of Sindhi Colony was found lying unconscious by the side of 4-lane road near Pigdamber, on Wednesday evening. People residing nearby had called an ambulance and rushed her to MY Hospital.

Rajendra Nagar police called a relative from her mobile and informed about the accident whereupon the family reached MY Hospital and moved the girl to a private nursing home where she succumbed to her injuries.

The family suspected that the dishevelled state of girl pointed to possible molestation and later attacked and left to die on road. The family staged a road blockage at Sindhi Colony Square during funeral procession on Thursday alleging that despite evidences the police are treating the death as ‘accident’.

TI Pawan Singhal of Juni Indore police station reached the spot with force and convinced the family to remove the road blockade and said that the matter is being investigated by Kishanganj police

Meanwhile, Mhow SDOP Arun Mishra said that people near the spot where the girl was found were questioned by the police and they said that the girl was seen riding pillion with a boy when she fell off of it and sustained serious injuries. When people questioned the boy, he said the girl was his sister and later fled the scene taking advantage of crowd.

Mishra denied rape and murder and said that autopsy report is awaited and once the report is received, the matter would be resolved. He said that the police are also trying to locate the boy who was with the girl at the time of incident.
