Indore : Though police have yet to receive a detailed autopsy report and expert opinion, the short postmortem report suggests that the retired police officer Parihar was died of asphyxiation after being smothered to death. The role of some acquaintance is also not ruled out.
In the sensational murder of septuagenarian retired cop Arjun Singh Parihar, police are leaving no stone unturned to trace the culprits and separate teams of city police are investigating all aspects of the high-profile murder in a posh locality.
DIG SK Singh told Free Press- though, police have yet to get an expert opinion and detail autopsy report about the cause of death of Parihar, it is strongly suspected that he may died of asphyxiation after the killer smothered by some cloth or pillow.
The scene of crime also suggests that the killers might be well aware about the activities of Parihar and family members, Singh added.
“We have zeroed in on some vital aspects in the murder case and are working on them to crack the case at the earliest” the DIG claimed.
Reliable sourced claimed since no precious items, cash, jewelry or valuables were stolen from the house. The murder could be planned, committed at the heat of the moment or in a fit of rage.
The loot or theft angle was ruled out. A small amount Rs 8,000 which was missing during preliminary investigation, was recovered later in the house.
Meanwhile, sources also disclosed that the short postmortem report was given to police which also confirmed that Parihar was died of asphyxiation. Besides, an internal injury was also detected in the wrist of Parihar, suggesting a possibility of struggle between Parihar and the killer.
The retired police officer Arjun Singh Parihar was murdered in cold blood inside his house behind Medicure Hospital in Vishnupuri between 6.30 and 9.30 pm on Thursday.
His wife Kusum was at his workplace at Uma Girls Hostel in Indrapuri and found him lying on the floor of the house when she returned in night.
